These images all come from playing around with inlaying wood. The ones above were experiments with gold silver and glass inlaid in carved wood. They are all dingbat images used with cutout to give a carved effect. Paint Shop Pro Hot Wax was applied and the colour adjustments used to get the metallic and glassy effects.

These were experiments in inlaid mother-of-pearl, which led to my Paint Shop Pro tutorial, and to the image 'Wisdom' in my gallery. Nightingail's Satin Swirl Blade Pro preset it essential to this effect. Again, these were dingbats used with cutout and drop shadow to give the carved look, and the Blade Pro preset was applied. In the left one, the raised part of the carving was selected and Blade Pro applied to that. In the one on the right, the recessed area of the carving was selected, the selection contracted, and then Blade Pro applied so that it looked as though the pearly material was in a recess slightly larger than itself.
