Vue d'Esrpit render. I was a country child during World War II, and we were permitted to keep one pig a year to supplement our meat ration. If we kept more than one we had to sell the others to the Government. One year we had a pig who learned that if he put his trotters on the wall beside the gate to his pen, he could lean over, pull the bolt with his teeth and let himself out. He did not get out every day, just when he felt like a ramble round the village, but we were very used to neighbours coming to tell us our pig was out and everyone around would then make up a posse to round him up and drive him back to his pen. One thing we learned from that pig is that pigs are very intelligent creatures.
