But the category that really makes me mad is seances. So often the people who do it are making money out of vulnerable people. In my time as a grief counsellor I saw first hand the damage done to people who had been persuaded to try to contact their dead loved ones. It took years of counselling to try to repair the damage, and sometimes we failed, and the person was left with a lifetime of fears and anxiety. Their money had been taken and their peace of mind stolen by dabbling in the occult, and they could not complete their grief and move on.
So I am quite hostile to all superstition, but especially to dabbling in the occult by using the Ouija board and seances, which may seem 'just a bit of fun' to many people, but have the potential to damage the vulnerable permanently.
