This was my first attempt at etched glass using PhotoImpact 4's glass presets and bubbles instead of Eye Candy. The etching is not very subtle in this picture, and is not much more than rendering the pattern lines in white.

By the time I came to write the PhotoImpact tutorial on etched glass, I had worked out a better way of producing the etching, involving overlaying soft tones one on top of the other over a gaussian blur copy of the image in a darker shade of the glass, as seen below.
